Two Poems

by Mary Marone

Forever Lost

One dream
Is another's destiny
Only drawing conclusions
From a prepainted history

Wanting, yet not searching
An endless desire
Forgetting for moments
Regrets transpired

Never hoping, never dreaming
Never returning to the past
For answers to memoirs
Truly forever lost.

When

When everything I know
And everything that could be
Changes winter into summer

When all that I've seen before
Like a sparkle in the sand
Is released in time

Tears will flow
And wash away
To a river of hopes and dreams.
